Ryan Murphy's One Hit Wonders to be set in the world of nineties pop.
Beyonce will be joined by Cameron Diaz and Reese Witherspoon as well as Gwyneth Paltrow who will earn her first production credit.
The film's story is thought to see the once famous singers decide to form a supergroup in a bid to return to pop stardom.
According to BBC's Newsbeat, no script has been written yet but Beyonce's role has been created in the film.
Ryan Murphy will direct alonside Glee co-creators Brad Falchuk and
Ian Brennan with US comedian Andy Samberg writing original songs for the
movie.
One Hit Wonders will be the first major project Beyonce has been
involved with since giving birth to her daughter Blue Ivy Carter earlier
this year. Last month it was revealed that Beyonce is working on two
new albums following last year's album 4.
Beyonce's previous film credits includes the 2006 musical Dreamgirls,
based on American R&B/Mowtown in the 60's and 70's and Cadillac
Records in 2008 which saw Beyonce play the late Etta James.
